Small Steps and Giant Steps

Through an intensive approach that focuses on the strengths and interests already present in the child and family, small steps and sometimes giant steps are made in turning around lives.

A Care Manager, through decisions made at Child and Family team meetings, helps the child and family with the necessary connections, supports and resources.

A small step might be when a child has succeeded in one task - such as passing a test, or coming home on time. A giant step for a child or adolescent might be that instead of having a crisis every day in school, an entire week or a month passes without having some type of behavioral incident. A giant step occurs when a Care Manager is asked to write a referral letter for a young woman making plans to apply to college.
