On September 4th, Bergen’s Promise was proud to be a part of the Safe Sanctuaries & Houses of Worship Conference hosted by the Bergen County Sheriff Department and Bergen County Council of Churches.
Our Community/Health Outreach Specialist, Nuha Kased-Hamoudeh, was part of the panel of presenters to speak about the vital role of faith leaders in the creation of safe, supportive communities that foster mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Safe Sanctuaries facilitating healthy bodies, minds and spirits.
Nuha underscored the importance of equipping clergy, volunteers, teachers and community leaders with evidence-based training, such as Mental Health First Aid, safeTALK, and ASIST, to break stigma, recognize warning signs, and connect individuals to lifesaving resources.
Bergen’s Promise Wraparound approach encourages collaboration with faith-based organizations to foster communities of compassion, hope, and resilience.
