Bergen’s Promise proudly hosted its 3rd Annual Back to School Family Wellness Night on Friday, August 28th, bringing families and community partners together for an evening focused on wellness, connection, and preparing children for a successful school year.
The event welcomed approximately 260 attendees who came together to enjoy food, activities, resources, and an atmosphere centered on supporting the health and well-being of children and families in the community. The evening was a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with local organizations and access valuable resources as they prepared for the upcoming school year.
Supporting Students and Families
Families received a variety of resources to help them prepare for the school year, including:
- 192 backpacks filled with school supplies
- 100 hygiene kits prepared by the Bergen’s Promise Youth and Family Wellness Committee
- 100+ menstruation kits provided by Flow Forward NJ
- 210 snack packs from the Center for Food Action
These essential items provided practical support while promoting confidence, dignity, and wellness for children and families.
Community, Fun & Connection
The event also featured local organizations including NJ4S, EZ Ride, Zentai Karate, Center for Modern Dance and Education, the New Jersey Department of Health, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, and Hackensack Police Department.
Families enjoyed face painting, bracelet making, chalk art, video games, outdoor games, music, and dancing throughout the evening. Jersey Gamer provided interactive gaming, while DJ Eddie kept the energy high with music and entertainment.
A free raffle added to the excitement, with more than $1,000 in gift cards and prizes awarded to attendees.
Most importantly, the event provided a safe, welcoming space for families to celebrate, connect, and prepare for the year ahead.

The success of this year’s Wellness Night is a testament to the power of community. Through the generosity of partners, vendors, volunteers, and donors, Bergen’s Promise was able to provide families with valuable resources while creating an evening centered on connection and celebration.
